How We Work
The Design Process
Developing the Brief
Our design service starts with a face-to-face consultation to establish a design brief. At this initial consultation, it is helpful if all parties who are involved in the cooking and decision-making process are present. The more information you provide us (including appliance preferences) the better and more personalised the design will be.
Concept Plans
Following this initial consultation, our designer will create a set of concept drawings. These concepts will be presented to you at our showroom. Once the design, product and hardware decisions have been confirmed, we will provide you with an estimate of the cost of your new kitchen.
Concept plans give a clear understanding of the interior spatial design and include a floor plan, elevations, and 3D Imagery. However, they are not working drawings.
Design Fee
Our $900.00 design fee covers the initial consultation with our qualified designers. It gives you ownership of the concept drawings and reassurance that you are working with experienced industry professionals.
The design fee is refundable when your kitchen is manufactured by Beaver Kitchens.
*Our design fee excludes travel expenses if you are outside of the Whakatane area.
We are confident that between us, we will provide you with a design that will match your cooking, lifestyle and budget.
The Manufacturing Process
Once the design has been confirmed, formal documentation will be sent, and a 50% deposit will be required to secure your project within our manufacturing schedule. A further 40% progress payment is payable prior to the kitchen leaving our factory, with the remaining 10% paid on final installation.
Our manufacturing process is very much skill-based rather than technology-based. A cabinetmaker will hand-build your kitchen from start to finish, including installation. This allows us to design and manufacture unique pieces of furniture, as we don’t have to work within modular sizing. It also ensures that our cabinetmakers oversee the entire project giving them “ownership” of the process – something that is often missing in modern-day manufacturing.
During the manufacture of your kitchen and prior to installation, we encourage our clients to visit our factory in Whakatane.
We can provide our own sub-trades or coordinate to work with your preferred trades people.
